The presented sundial is the so-called Dollonda sundial. Thanks to the compass, it is possible to locate the device in the north-south line. Thanks to this, after lifting the gnomon - a triangular, movable indicator on the top - to the vertical, the sun's rays will cast a shadow on the outer dial of the device, where the hours are marked. The current time can then be read.
